Some of the proceeds from the tour will go towards the duo’s foundation for LGBTQ women and girls, The Tegan And Sara Foundation. Guest performers on the album include Jason McGerr of Death Cab for Cutie, Matt Sharp of The Rentals and formerly of Weezer (on Sara's songs), Hunter Burgan of AFI (on Tegan's songs) and Kaki King.

The Con X: Tour, as it’s being called, is a series of acoustic shows in October and November in which the sisters will perform the full album alongside other songs. The Con is Tegan and Sara 's fifth full-length studio album, released on J(Februin the United Kingdom ). Of course “just yesterday” in this case translates into 10 years ago. But this isn't to say that there's a kind of disparity or harsh contrast on The Con. Digital lyric prints of the Tegan & Sara album The Con, made as chapters of a book. Though each sister writes and sings lead on seven tracks, it is Sara especially who writes the more intricate pieces ("Relief Next to Me," "Like O, Like H"), showing a more adult songwriter, one who has matured since her first work came out, while Tegan draws more from simpler emo and pop-punk arrangements ("Nineteen," "Hop a Plane"), her songs more straightforward, both compositionally and lyrically, than her sister's. Produced by Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla, the album is full of quirky, Aqueduct-like keyboards, punchy bass from Weezer's Matt Sharp and AFI's Hunter Burgan, and even some guitar help from Kaki King that stretch and shove their way into the spaces between Tegan and Sara's hook-driven melodies and clean harmonies, more complex than anything they've done before. Add 'The Con' by Tegan and Sara to your Rock Band 4 song library. Two singles were released from the album, 'Back in Your Head' and 'The Con', which both had music videos filmed for them. I particularly like 'The Con', an emotional meltdown performed with a compelling force. Their guitar-driven rock is as infectious as ever.
The album charted at number 4 in Canada and at number 34 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. Tegan and Sara's new CD is a great collection of songs which builds on the power pop sound they forged with their previous brilliant effort.
It was a progression, to be sure, from This Business of Art to their fourth Vapor full-length - one that can be heard in the time spent on production, the louder guitars - but that still may not prepare listeners for The Con.
